Johnson High Visits SSU JMC program for a Day of Immersive Workshops

On Friday, February 9, 2024, Johnson High visited SSU JMC program for a day of immersive workshops. The students, faculty, and stuff toured the facilities in Whiting Hall including the Student Media Center, classrooms, mac labs, and studio.

Once in the studio, the students received information about the program, dual enrollment, and the Georgia Film Academy.

The students were broke into to two groups and participated in hands on activities. One was to create a virtual tour (digital communication/public relations) and was conducted by Dr. Juliana Trammel. Students built a virtual tour of Whiting Hall, a simulation of the building composed of a sequence of videos, still, and 3600 images.

The other was to create a Talk Show (television production) and that was conducted by Kareem McMichael and Dr. Angela Mathis. Students produced a talk show on a topic of their choice that can air on TV and streaming platforms. Students will serve as hosts and guests while others work in different production positions (camera, directing, writer, etc.)
