JMC Accomplishments
Faculty & Staff:
- Dr. Serajul Bhuiyan presented a paper titled "Charlotte Collaborative Journalism - A Case Analysis on Collaborative Journalism" at the AEJMC (association for education in Journalism and Mass Communication) Conference held from August 7-11, 2023.
- Dr. Juliana Trammel was invited to present her published chapter titled "Artificial Intelligence for Social Evil: Exploring how AI and Beauty Filters Perpetuates Colorism- Lessons Learned from Colorism Giant, Brazil, at the media sociology symposium in partnership with the Brazil-US Colloquium on Communication Studies (International Communication Association Pre-Conference, August 2023).
- Reginald Franklin was appointed to serve on the assessment committee for the Georgia Film Consortium, a professional organization, a unit of the University System of Georgia
Students:
- Aniyah Baker is Chairwoman of Health and Wellness Committee, NAACP
- Eden Turner received the 2023 Washington Media Fellows Scholarship
- Rayshon Lawrence was awarded the Kabela Family Scholarship. He published an article on the Savannah Tribute titled "Healthy Savannah Celebrates 15th Anniversary."
Alumni:
- Christina John '22 got promoted to account manager in training at Insight Global HQ at the digital office
- Justin Phillips '21 has enrolled at the MA in communications, strategic Management Track, at Columbus State University.
- James Seabrooks '23 accepted a position as Videographer, website and YouTube manager for Roof Crafters
- Jazmin Wilson '22 has enrolled at Grand Valley State University in the communications programs as part of the SSU/GVST Consortium
- Christa Ross '22 has graduated from the military's premier communications and media learning institution on August 26, 2023. Her graduating average was 87.9. Ms. Ross had her work/projects published by the Major General Crumbly of the GA Air National Guard
